  ちょっと遅くなりましたが、AMSAT-bb に掲載されていた MIR 喪失
についての WF1F Miles Mann 氏の投稿を紹介します。著者の翻訳・
転載承諾は取得済みです。

ファーストフード会社のタコベルはミールをネタにしたコンテストを実施
中です。海面に浮かぶ 40 フィート四方の「的」にもしミールの破片がヒ
ットしたら、無料のタコスを提供するそうです。もしその破片がミールの
アマ無線プロジェクトのものだった場合に、MAREX がタコスを貰えるとい
いんですけど？。

そのカードが確かにミール上にあった事を示すスタンプが背面に付けられ
たものです。そのうち１つは、乗組員が宇宙ステーションを離れ地球に帰
還した 1999 年 8 月 28 日の日付になっています。このカードは１ヶ月
(39日以上) もミールに滞在し地球を 585 周 (2,100万マイルもの距離)
も旅したことになります。

私は、ミールの乗組員であるセルゲイ・アブデイエフ、ビクトル・アファ
ナスシエフ、そしてジャン・ピエールと、セルゲイ・サンビュロフを含む

宇宙ステーション「ミール」は、船内にある歴史的なアマチュア無線シス
テムとともに再突入に向かっています。この中には、MAREX-NA グループ
によりミール用に開発された SSTV システムが含まれています。ミールの
乗組員は非常に多くの「ライブ」画像をこのシステムにより送ってくれま
した。この最初の画像を受け取ったドン・ミラー博士 W9NTP は、ミール

からの画像により、１５年の間外宇宙に在った世界的に有名なミールの
世界について多くのことを知ることができました。ミールからの画像は
