AMSAT News Service Bulletin 113.01

April 23, 2006
To All RADIO AMATEURS
BID: $ANS-113.01

We are looking for a few good men & women to help at the AMSAT booth
during the Dayton Hamvention.

I always find this a rewarding experience, whether talking with longtime
AMSAT members or a shy, interested person that is not sure how to start.
The booth will be open Friday May 19th from 9am to 6 pm, Saturday May
20th,8am to 5pm and Sunday 8am to 1pm.
We need people to answer questions about satellite operation, take
donationsfor publications and trinkets, memberships and renewals,
demonstrate software and assist with satellite demos. Please volunteer
for a two hour shift eachday while you are attending the Hamvention.
If you can only find an hour, that will be welcome also. Send me an
email at wa4sxm@amsat.org .

Also take advantage of our Thursday night 'Pizza and Suds' gathering at
Mario's Piazza and the Friday night Banquet at the Amber Rose. Contact
Nancy Makley for reservations at kc8gyw@amsat.org .

If you will be unable to help at the booth, come by and check out our
new offering and see the operating EAGLE SDX (Software Defined
Transponder) or just say HI to your fellow AMSAT members.

Gould, WA4SXM

To All RADIO AMATEURS
BID: $ANS-113.02

Phase 3 E looks like its headed for a 2007 launch. If all the modules
function well and the satellite passses some critical vibration tests
the launch could be early next year.(Actual dates not set)
The twin looking satellite of OSCAR 10 or 13 is in its final building
stages and tests. It may look like a twin of AO-10 or AO-13 but it has
some of the latest technology onboard. Some is even being tested for
the future Phase 5A Mars orbiter. That will be an adventure in the near
future for everyone to enjoy and another story.
You can find updated information on the website of AMSAT-DL and learn of
the upcoming events. As always, AMSAT-NA has links to information sites
for all the latest satellite news.

SUBMITTED BY ARTHUR N1ORC - AMSAT A/C 31468

*Expedition 13 in Second Week of Mission*

Expedition 13 Commander Pavel Vinogradov and Flight Engineer Jeff Williams, now into their second full work week alone aboard the orbital outpost, are continuing with station familiarization, routine maintenance and medical data collection. On Monday, the crew set up and activated EarthKAM for its first photographic data takes of the new increment.

Wednesday's scheduled reboost of the station using the Zvezda Service
Module engine did not occur. Neither engine fired, and the maneuver was
aborted. Russian engineers are investigating. Since the reboost was
primarily intended as a test of the engines and would have raised the
station's altitude by approximately 1/3 of a statute mile, the planned
docking of the ISS Progress 21 cargo craft is not affected. The
Progress, carrying 2tons of fuel, oxygen and supplies, will launch
next Monday and dock with the station on Wednesday, April 26.
