IDEFIX is a word game of the french words "idee fixe" which means
"stucked to realize one idea at all price"
IDEFIX is a pseudo celtic name in the way of the old celtic warriors
that populated France 2000 years ago.
IDEFIX is the name of the pet of ASTERIX for which you have probably
heard (address joined)

French is a very subtle language. As english uses a lot of old french
words (they used to speak french 600 years ago) if the writing remained
the same, the meaning is often totally different.
IDEE FIXE :' he has an IDEE FIXE' means that somebody thinks only to one
think until he succeeds in it. You could say that SONY has the IDEE FIXE
to make the best audio material in the world or that HONDA has the IDEE
FIXE to make the best motorbikes in the world. (or SUZUKI as you like)

2000 years ago, the inhabitants of France were the 'celts' whose name
often ended by 'ix'. So in 1960, two humorists made a cartoon in which
the heroes resisting to ro・n envadors were celts and their names
all
ended in 'ix' making word games with current words as 'panoramix' (for
'panoramique), dogmatix (for 'dogmatique') or more subttle ones. The
pet of one of the heroes (a dog) was simply named IDEFIX.

That cartoon has become an almost world wide success (22 languages).
Hence we took that name, not for the pet, but because our 'IDEE FIXE' is
to built satellite !!!!!
