APRS SCHOOL DAYS

MIREX is proud to announce an on going APRS SCHOOL DAYS TEST.
Effective immediately, any school world wide can participate in this.
It is the plan of MIREX to allow schools only to use APRS for positions
and status reports via R0MIR. S messages in APRS format is accepted to be used
by any participating schools. It is asked that non school stations refrain
from using APRS type of transmissions, or beacons via R0MIR.
This TEST is to encourage school participation in learning more about
space and Amateur Radio. This test will continue through the last days of
operation before MIR re-enters the earth's atmosphere some time in late 1999.

R0MIR-1 MAILBOX OPEN TO ALL

As of June 24, R0MIR-1 has been opened up to third party messages.
This means you can now send SP mail to other amateurs. In addition,
SB messages can be sent to ALL now, so there is no need to SB R0MIR.
Please do NOT send SB R0MIR bulletin mail! The crew will NOT read it,
and it is a waste of storage space available. It will be up to the users
of MIR's mailbox to KILL your mail after you read it. If some day you
connect to R0MIR-1 and find that you can't leave a message because there
is 0 bytes free, you will be able to blame those that don't follow the
common courtesy of deleting their read mail. Therefore is up to YOU
to make sure the mailbox will be there for others to use. This information
is also going to be used as a test for the new ISS packet station to see how
things might be improved before it gets on the air. You are the beta testers!
Use it wisely!
